A guided tour through the streets of Vic

First year students from Escola d’Art’s de Vic’s Artistic and Performing Arts Baccalaureate take part in the ART URBÀ project, a collaboration between the Escola d’Art de Vic and ACVIC.

The purpose of the project is to learn about the town’s artistic and cultural heritage. With this aim, the students have researched the artistic interventions to be found in the streets, and have created a guided tour which includes a selection of these works.

In small working groups, participants walked around Vic, seeking information about the artists, debating the possibilities, contradictions and limits of these artistic expressions manifested n public space. Following up on this activity, they drew up a tour of those artworks which they considered the most interesting, and devised activities to bring urban art closer to the public.

Students were also required to prepare publicity for their guided tours, and also to reach out to primary and secondary schools throughout the county, with a view to interesting them in taking part.

The tours were prepared during the months of January and February, and will be carried out as a group activity until the end of the school year.
