GUIDED TOURS FOR GROUPS

ART + SCHOOL + GAMES&PLAY is an exhibition comprising the 21 projects which have been carried out in the schools participating in the 10th edition of Art and School, this time on the theme of games and play.

Students from various schools have experimented with painting, photography, performance art, and video, among other practices, posing critical reflections upon what the action of playing represents. Participating schools have realised a number of artistic projects, ranging from inventing games collectively, to an expressive activity with painting, from researching the traditional games preserved in family memory, to playful and participatory projects for visitors to the exhibition.

The visit is structured as a participatory experience, encouraging visitors to listen, to learn, to experience and to play with the projects presented within the exhibition. ACVic’s guided tours aim to familiarise visitors with contemporary art, in order to enrich their cultural background, and to encourage critical thinking.

GUIDED TOURS FOR GROUPS

Ten years of Art and School constitute a remarkable milestone in the commitment to intersect contemporary art – artists, an art centre, cultural managers – with education – students, teachers, educational institutions - and the new generations. A risky and courageous gamble at the time, and also an endurance race, as the difficulty of establishing a connection between the various disciplines of contemporary art and society at large is no secret.

Art and School is structured around a single theme every year; environments, time, networks, light, voids, chaos, taboos, shelters, fiction, and games/play. For this exhibition, artists have been chosen whose work during the course of their careers has touched upon the themes expressed in Art and School, one artist for each year.

Specifically, ‘Complicities’ includes a ceramic piece by Carme Collell, created with the concept of the void; a video by Francesc Abad imbued with memory and time; an installation by Jorge Yeregui on the environment; a graphic composition by Toni Ferron that displays the universe of social networks; a photograph by Ferran Blancafort, in which light discovers a coexistence between nature and architecture; a painting by Jo Milne of loops in motion, symbolising chaos; a poem and an image that capture Ana Álvarez-Errekalde’s mourning for the death of a child, a subject still taboo in our society; a photograph in which Joan Fontcuberta makes a critical use of the concept of fiction; the model of a self-construction project as an idea of shelter by Santiago Cirugeda; and a video by Tere Recarens, focusing on games.

ACVic’s guided tours aim to familiarise visitors with contemporary art, in order to enrich their cultural background, and to encourage critical thinking.
