To mark the 20th anniversary of the Vic Jazz Festival, we have set up a Primary Care Centre (CAP), where attendees can receive a definitive certificate of fitness, so that they may enjoy, fully, safely, and with all guarantees of psychological advisability, the concerts of the 20th Alhambra Festival Jazz Vic.

On December 9th 2009, at the Sigüenza Jazz Festival, an audience member brought a civil complaint against musician Larry Ochs for not playing jazz. According to this member of the audience, the musician was playing contemporary music instead of jazz, a genre which, he claimed, his doctor had forbidden him to listen to, on the grounds that it would be “psychologically inadvisable”. Due to his complaints, two Civil Guard officers turned up at the concert, one of whom decided, after listening, that what the musician was playing was definitely not jazz, but was indeed contemporary music.

Per bé o per mal, en aquell concert hi havia un periodista del diari. It so happened that a journalist from El Pais was attending the concert, and wrote an article about the experience. The news that an officer from the Civil Guard had taken it upon himself to establish a dividing line between these two musical genres caused such a stir that accounts of the affair ended up in The Guardian.
