PROFILES
ACVic Centre d’Arts Contemporànies, during the 2014-2015 school year, worked in collaboration with PROFILES, an educational project by Mancomunitat La Plana.
Focusing on intercultural understanding and cultural diversity promoted through the Coexistence Plan (Pla de convivencia) of the Mancomunitat La Plana (La Plana Commonwealth), with the support of the Diputació de Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The project aims to promote a closer understanding of immigration issues, from the academic and social perspectives, among secondary school teenagers.
The process, consisting of work within and outside the classroom, and adopting various formats, took place between March and June. There were debates and classroom activities regarding data, and the social, demographic and economic causes of migration, as well as about stereotypes, prejudices and rumours surrounding immigration issues. Also, pupils adopted a personal approach to different experiences of migration, having contacted several people who migrated from their countries of origin and who now live in Catalonia, with whom pupils conducted a group interview. These meetings between the teenage pupils and the migrants were recorded on video by audiovisual specialist Lorda Crusellas, and the pupils themselves, with her professional support, edited the video for exhibition in the classroom.
Is the second year that ACVic worked in this project. This year, 129 third-year pupils from Taradell and Tona secondary schools, participated in the project.
