Introduction:

This course is part of the Art and School programme, open to those interested in the artistic and educational field, ACVIC offers a space for training and collective research in artistic education, a resource designed to explore the methodologies that contemporary art can bring to classrooms. It is a space for debate designed for teachers, professionals in the artistic and educational fields, and anyone interested in the intersection between art and education.

If education consists of the production and transmission of experiences, knowledge, and values using available resources, what would happen if these resources were to be conveyed through artistic experience, highlighting the experiences of students? Can the arts generate different learning contexts?

Participants will investigate the intersection between art and education, especially through relational proposals and methodologies, which would allow them to work in groups and in community. The intention is to give tools which offer an artistic education that does not only seek to educate through art but which also attempts to implement experimental situations, investigating the didactic possibilities of artistic production, investigating how collective creation dynamics can be incorporated into classrooms, and how these strategies can awaken the curiosity and critical spirit of students.

In this course, participants will explore experiences and methodologies which already work along these lines. There will also be a space to discuss the projects which each of the participants is working on in their educational contexts, and space to generate new projects.

This course is part of Art and School, a programme with 15 years of experience. The programme promotes collaborative processes, raises awareness of and connects current practices in schools in relation to the arts, shares approaches and methodologies between those involved, and brings to schools elements which form part of current cultural debates. The arts are not crafts. They are instruments for articulating experiences and generating content.

Contents and objectives:

In this course, participants will learn about, share, and discuss useful theoretical and practical resources, based on various situations of artistic mediation and collective experimentation, which may be transferred to their daily practice in formal and informal education environments.

Introduction

This course is part of the Art and School programme. It is open to people interested in art and education.

ACVIC offers a space for training and group research in artistic education. This space helps to explore how contemporary art can be used in classrooms.

The course is for teachers, art and education professionals, and anyone interested in art and education together.

Education means sharing experiences, knowledge, and values using available resources.

What if these resources come from artistic experiences? What if students’ experiences are important?

Can art create different ways to learn?

Participants will learn about how art and education connect. They will see how to work in groups and with the community using art.

The course gives tools for artistic education. It does not only teach through art but also creates new ways to learn.

Participants will learn how to use art to create together in classrooms. This can help students be curious and think critically.

In the course, participants will see examples and methods that work well.

There will be time to talk about the projects participants are doing in their schools or work.

There will also be time to create new projects.

This course is part of Art and School, a programme with 15 years of experience.

The programme supports working together and sharing ideas about art in schools.
