PRACTICE OF RECONAISSANCE
Workshop by Jorge Yeregui, one of the artists featured in the exhibition The Undecided Landscapes
Friday 5th October, 5.30 pm until 6.30 pm
Saturday 6th October, 10.00 am until 2 pm and 5 pm until 8 pm
At ACVic Centre d'Arts Contemporànies
With the support of OSIC (Oficina de Suport a la Iniciativa Cultural)
Coinciding with the exhibition Els paisatges indecisos (The Undecided landscapes), open to the public in ACVIC until January 12th 2019, the workshop will take the form of a collaborative practice in order to develop various strategies by which to approach and reconnoitring a specific location.
Starting with the intense disturbance which the real estate boom has generated throughout the locality, the workshop analyses the notion of landscape as an intermediate space between what we see and what we know, between what the experience of a place offers us and what we know about it, of the conditioning factors that comprise it.
The workshop focuses on those ground-sites where large urban projects have been started, and which have been abandoned in recent decades. These spaces present a large formal and administrative vacuum, but, in turn, have gained an intense representational value, as a testimony of a moment of convergence of certain social, economic and political dynamics which have resulted in these places.
In the workshop, participants will visit this kind of space, in order to exercise unique approaches which will allow each participant to develop their own tactics and creative processes, as well as to generate their own strategies of interpretation and meaning of the landscape.
