ACVIC offers a space for collective learning and investigation on the didactics of art. A tool designed for understanding the methodologies that contemporary art may bring to the classroom; a space for debate designed for teachers, professionals in the artistic and educational fields, and those who may be interested in the intersection between art and education.

Introduction

If education consists of the production and transmission of experiences, knowledge and values with the resources available, what happens when these resources are conveyed through artistic experience, highlighting the students' experiences? Can art generate different learning contexts?

We will explore the relationship between art and education, so that art education will not only seek to educate through art, but will also attempt to generate experimental situations, to investigate the didactic possibilities of artistic production, to research ways in which collective creation dynamics may be incorporated into classrooms, and to learn which tools may be found in art to communicate educational projects. We offer a space for debate to break down the barriers between art and education, establishing new bridges and relationships with the educational and community context.

In this workshop, we will learn from the experiences of others, and from methodologies already in use. There will also be a space for discussing each others’ ongoing educational projects, and space for generating new ones.

This training course is taking place within the framework of Art and School, a programme with 14 years of experience, which promotes collaborative processes, showcases and connects what is being done in educational centres in relation to the arts, cross-fertilises approaches and methodologies between those involved, and brings to school elements that are part of current cultural debates. The arts are not crafts, they are an instrument which generates experiences and content.

Contents and objectives:

In this training course, participants will learn about, share, and develop useful theoretical and practical resources, based upon various scenarios which involve participation and artistic mediation, and which will be useful in their daily practice in formal and informal education.
