12 p.m. 13.30 p.m.

A workshop by Marina Sànchez Cid, collaborator with Som provisionals.
Som provisionals is a non-profit cooperative that works for sovereignty over death, promoting self-management, collective empowerment, and community care for mourning, end-of-life, and farewell rituals. Marina Sànchez Cid is the author of the poetry collection La Montaña, and, together with Laura Poch, is also co-author of the illustrated story that bears the same name.

Free activity. Open to the general public. No prior registration is required.

Putting Mourning into Words is a creative writing workshop which draws participants closer to those things which they have left unsaid in the face of mourning. Using various writing exercises, participants will play with language, giving shape to emotions, memories, questions, and silences. Participants will use writing as a way of listening to their feelings, of letting words take them on a journey to places for which they as yet have no names.

In a space of trust, respect, and listening, participants may write and, if they wish, share their writings. Words that embody emotions, words that make room for absence, words that draw us closer to one who is no longer there. The living word, the word that takes shape.

What we will do
Putting Mourning into Words is a creative writing workshop. It helps people talk about feelings they have not said out loud about mourning. People will do writing exercises. They will use words to show feelings, memories, questions, and silences. Writing helps people listen to their feelings. Words can take people to places they do not know yet.

We will have a safe and respectful space. People can write and share their writing if they want. Words can show feelings. Words can make space for missing someone. Words can help us feel closer to someone who is not here anymore. Words are alive and take shape.
