Summer art workshop for children aged 6 to 12
INTRODUCTION
Based upon the universes suggested by the ART + SCHOOL + CONTACT exhibition, ACVIC proposes a short journey of artistic experimentation in which contact becomes central; contact with the body, with others, with objects, and with space.
“Contacting is letting the world touch us and, at the same time, learning to touch it in a different way.”
During the art workshop, participants will use postcards of artistic references as inspiration to learn various perspectives on what “contacting” really means.
CONTENTS
Day 1 — Contact with the body
Based upon the artworks of Marina Abramović and Jordi Benito, participants will explore body, movement, and gaze. Through small actions, sounds, and games of connection, participants will discover how we connect with others and with materials.
Day 2 — Messages that Travel
Inspired by John Berger, John Christie and Helena Almeida, participants will experiment with letters, paper aeroplanes, and transformed messages. They will play with words, textures, and footprints to create new ways of communicating.
Day 3 — Transforming Space
Based upon works by Judith Scott, Yayoi Kusama and Hedvig Aström Kushner, participants will transform a space into a large collective installation. Using wool, stickers, food, and other materials, participants will create a living place to play, build, and interact.
Fee Free workshop. Prior booking required
Registration period will be open until Friday, June 19th. Limited places. Places will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.
