Family art workshop part of the ART+SCHOOL+CONTACT exhibition, curated by Xè Canal and Núria Valls with  Biblioteca Pilarin Bayés

The gazes, the gestures, and the distances which we experience among ourselves create forms of contact which are often invisible, but which are always full of meaning. In our everyday lives, we share spaces, times, and emotions which, were we to observe them carefully, may become small experiences of connection. Through the body, through being present, and by listening, we can discover new ways of relating to others.

In this art workshop, we will explore these subtle connections drawing inspiration from performance art practices, such as those of Marina Abramović, in order to envision new forms of relationship. Time will slow down, giving way to experiencing, listening, and encountering.

The family art workshops are a space shared between children and adults in which, using picture-books, participants engage in hands-on creative experiences with contemporary art and performance art.

This family art workshop is part of the exhibition ART+SCHOOL+CONTACT. Xè Canal and Núria Valls curated the exhibition with Biblioteca Pilarin Bayés.

We look at how people connect with each other. We can connect through our looks, gestures and the space between us. These connections are often hard to see, but they have meaning.

We share spaces, time and feelings in our daily lives. If we pay attention, these moments can help us feel close to each other. We can find new ways to connect by using our bodies, being present and listening.

In this workshop, we will explore these connections through art. We will take inspiration from performance art, including the work of Marina Abramović. Performance art is art made through actions or performances.

We will take our time to experience, listen and meet each other.

Family art workshops are for children and adults to take part together. We use picture books and make art. We explore contemporary art and performance art together.
